I’ve been programming since I was 7 years old, and doing it professionally for 11 years. Open source software has provided me a valuable outlet for writing code outside of work, and given me a way to contribute back to the programming community.
Virtual Pages is my first stab at a WordPress equivalent to Drupal’s powerful Views module. It lets site creators choose from query_posts parameters (category, tag, author, etc.) as well as a date range to display posts on a “virtual page” at a given permalink.
These pages exist outside the page table, so nobody has to learn any shortcodes or do any PHP coding.
Results output to the standard page templates included in themes, so developers no longer need to write a custom template with a call to query_posts() for every page with a custom query.
Dave’s WordPress Live Search adds “live search” functionality to your WordPress site. As visitors type words into your WordPress site’s search box, the plugin continually queries WordPress, looking for search results that match what the user has typed so far. The live search technique means that most people will find the results they are looking for before they finish typing their query, and it saves them the step of having to click a submit button to get their search results.
This pre-relase plugin became a sudden star after an endorsement from the makers of the Ultimate Band Website Template. But, it didn’t let success to go its head. Unlike other plugins that display static images from YouTube videos, or require you to explicitly link to the videos you want to show, this plugin embeds players of whatever arbitrary size you give it.
